FreeWire Technologies, a startup offering DC fast-charging infrastructure for EVs, has partnered with Sagelio, a company providing EV-charging services in Italy. This partnership also marks Freewire's first entry into the Italian EV market.
Under this partnership, Freewire’s product, “Booster Charger,” will be distributed in Italy by Sagelio. The Booster chargers only require a three-phase AC input (27 kW), with the energy stored in embedded batteries and transformed internally in direct current, to be delivered to EVs at up to 200 kW power. Furthermore, these chargers can be installed in less than two hours and can be easily moved across locations.
Analyst QuickTake: This partnership comes after Freewire opened its European Headquarters in Oxfordshire, UK, in April 2023 . At the time, the company reported plans to expand its operations to the UK, Ireland, and Benelux regions (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg), as well as Spain and Italy in 2023 before expanding to other markets. As such, the company has established partnerships in Europe with bp (European region), Bauwelinck (Germany), AVIA (the Netherlands), and Otamar (Spain).
