Omeat, a California-based cultivated meat producer, has emerged from stealth and announced it has raised USD 40 million in a Series A funding round held in April 2022. The funding round saw the participation of S2G Ventures, Google Ventures (GV), Bold Capital Partners, Tyson Ventures, Rethink Food, Trailhead Capital, and Cavallo Ventures.
The funding will be used to build a pilot plant, expand the team, and obtain regulatory approvals from the FDA and USDA.
Omeat, founded in 2019, develops cell-cultured beef products. During its stealth period, the company developed a unique approach to cultivating meats that use regenerative factors extracted from cows. This approach claims to significantly reduce costs and enable scaled production to meet global consumer demand.
