Plastic Energy, a UK-based company offering plastic recycling solutions, has partnered with NOVA Chemicals, a leading Canadian producer of plastics and chemicals, to explore the feasibility of developing a pyrolysis-driven advanced recycling facility in Sarnia, Ontario.
If constructed, the facility would reportedly be the largest in Canada, with an expected initial capacity of 66 kilotons per annum.
For NOVA Chemicals, the partnership will allow it to reach its goal of 30% recycled content in its polyethylene sales by 2030.
Analyst QuickTake: Plastic Energy's expansion into Canada marks the launch of its first advanced recycling project in the country. The company has already established two recycling plants in Spain and has demonstrated its global reach. Last year, the company formed a partnership with SK Geo Centric to establish a pyrolysis plant in Ulsan, South Korea, expanding its presence in Asia and with INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe to construct a plastic waste conversion facility in Germany .
