Lilium, an eVTOL jet developer, reported that it has completed the fourth and final Design Organization Approval (DOA) audit done by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
This marks a key milestone for Lilium to become an EASA DOA holder, which is a requirement for aircraft manufacturers as it confirms that a company has the required organization, procedures, competencies, and resources to design and certify aircraft. The company first applied for the EASA DOA in 2017.
Looking forward, Lilium is now in the final phase of the DOA process, which includes the follow up and closure of outstanding actions and administrative steps. The company aims to obtain the DOA certificate in 2023.
Analyst QuickTake: In addition to the above, Lilium also issued its G-1 certification for the Lilium Jet by the Federal Aviation Administration in June 2023 . Coupled with the certification it received from EASA in 2020, the company claims it is the only eVTOL manufacturer with an EASA and FAA certification basis for a powered lift eVTOL aircraft.
