Mirrorscape has partnered with tabletop roleplaying game company Paizo to bring the latter's titles, Starfinder and Pathfinder, into Mirrorscape's AR virtual tabletop platform. It is set to release in the summer of 2023.
The partnership with Paizo will allow players to engage in quests and gaming adventures through this AR interface. The platform has been in development for four years and emphasizes open, community-based experiences that support gamer creativity and homebrew campaigns. Additionally, the partnership aligns with dPaizo’s Open RPG Creative (ORC) License, which is in the final stages of drafting.
Paizo is recognized for publishing tabletop role-playing games and operates an online retail store offering a variety of products, including board games, comic books, toys, clothing, and accessories, and hosts an internet forum community. Starfinder, a science-fiction/science-fantasy role-playing game, builds on the mechanics and universe of Pathfinder but with a futuristic twist. Pathfinder, a fantasy role-playing game, was published in 2009. Both games support adventure paths and other materials from Paizo and third-party publishers.
Analyst QuickTake: The partnership with Paizo follows the company announcing partnerships with prominent Dungeons & Dragons companies in March 2023 , seeking to further expand game content. Additionally, in March 2023 , Mirrorscape partnered with Qualcomm to integrate its ARcana gaming platform with AR glasses to help bolster game immersion.
