FACIA, a UK-based company specializing in face recognition technology and liveness detection, secured USD 1.2 million in seed funding led by Programmers Force, an angel investor.

The company intends to allocate the funding toward its R&D, which will involve making investments in liveness detection capabilities to complement its facial recognition technology and to expand into new markets, especially North America, Europe, and MENA.

The investment follows the successful completion of a presentation attack detection test conducted by iBeta Quality Assurance. In May, FACIA's face biometrics passed an assessment based on the ISO/IEC 30107-3 standard for biometric presentation attack detection, Level 1.
