Oshi (formerly Plantish), an Israeli FoodTech startup, and The Better Meat Co, a plant-based meat developer, have received a USD 1 million grant from the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) foundation.
The BIRD grant will be used to develop fish-free salmon whole-cuts by leveraging Oshi’s 3D-printing technology and The Better Meat Co’s mycoprotein-based fermentation technology.
Oshi and Better Meat Co aim to address the issue of declining salmon populations and increasing demand for salmon by creating mycoprotein-based salmon filets that are both nutritious and environmentally friendly.
