Kroger has converted its grocery store in Franklin, Tennessee, to a self-checkout-only format. The store will feature Kroger's belted self-checkout lanes, which allow customers to scan items and automatically move them to a bagging station.
In order to support the conversion to a fully self-checkout format, the store will also feature new wide belt lanes that can accommodate large volume purchases.
The stores will, however, still be manned with Kroger staff who will be able to assist the customers in their checkout process if required.
Kroger also plans to convert another Tennessee location to a fully self-checkout format later in the year.
