Augmedics, an AR surgical navigation platform, has acquired the digital health assets of Surgalign and Holo Surgical for USD 0.9 million in cash.
Surgalign's digital health offerings include the HOLO Portal, an AI-driven AR guidance system that provides intraoperative image-guided navigation of a patient's spine. The patented AR system enables a 3D overlay of the patient's anatomy and real-time superimposition of 3D targeting and trajectory on surgical instruments.
Augmedics plans to integrate these offerings with its own AR-based and AI-based solutions, including its FDA-cleared xvision platform.
Analyst QuickTake: The acquisition allows Augmedics to bolster its product offering, which announced the launch of a new set of FDA-cleared features to expand capabilities of its xvision platform in March 2023 . Augmedics also raised USD 82.5 million in a Series D funding round in June 2023 , with funding being utilized to expand Augmedics' US commercial footprint and enable mass-scale adoption of its proprietary xvision technology.
