NVIDIA has unveiled a significant update to its Omniverse platform, which is designed to optimize and enhance 3D pipelines through the OpenUSD framework and generative AI. This release is intended to speed up the creation of virtual worlds and streamline workflows for industrial digitalization.
The updated Omniverse platform improves the Omniverse Kit for developing OpenUSD applications. It also boosts the NVIDIA Omniverse Audio2Face app and spatial-computing features. The platform also integrates better with platforms like Adobe and Apple’s ARKit, promoting 3D content creation and collaboration. Key features are RTX-powered spatial integrations, modular app building, new developer templates, and a better user experience. The Audio2Face app now uses generative AI APIs for realistic facial animations from audio.
Analyst QuickTake: The updates follow NVIDIA’s partnership in March 2023 to host the Omniverse Cloud and DGX Cloud using Microsoft’s supercomputing resources, Azure. Further, NVIDIA formed the “Alliance for OpenUSD” (AOUSD), with Apple, Pixar, Adobe, and Autodesk to promote the standardization and development of 3D content earlier in August 2023 .
