UK-based air taxi and drone logistics company Skyports has conducted a four-week drone-based medical delivery trial in the UK in collaboration with EMED Group, a logistics provider to the UK National Health Service (NHS), in June 2023.
During the trial—which was conducted together with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) (a customer of EMED Group)—Skyports delivered 400+ pathology samples between ESNEFT sites using drones.
The purpose of the trial was to assess the capacity of routine drone operations to enhance traditional medical delivery services, ensuring reliable delivery of medical supplies and samples.
Analyst QuickTake: Skyports has conducted medical delivery trials with various parties on behalf of the UK NHS since 2020. In addition, the company has completed/announced drone-based delivery trials with more parties such as Royal Mail, Swoop Aero, and FedEx.
