Skyports completes month-long drone-based medical delivery trial in UK

Partnerships

  • UK-based air taxi and drone logistics company Skyports has conducted a four-week drone-based medical delivery trial in the UK in collaboration with EMED Group, a logistics provider to the UK National Health Service (NHS), in June 2023.

  • During the trial—which was conducted together with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) (a customer of EMED Group)—Skyports delivered 400+ pathology samples between ESNEFT sites using drones.

  • The purpose of the trial was to assess the capacity of routine drone operations to enhance traditional medical delivery services, ensuring reliable delivery of medical supplies and samples.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Skyports has conducted medical delivery trials with various parties on behalf of the UK NHS since 2020. In addition, the company has completed/announced drone-based delivery trials with more parties such as Royal Mail, Swoop Aero, and FedEx.
