CarbonCapture Inc, a DAC startup, and its partners have been elected to receive USD 12.5 million funding by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to develop a megaton-scale DAC hub in Southwest Wyoming.
The initial phase of the Wyoming hub, spearheaded by CarbonCapture, aims to conduct a front-end engineering design (FEED) study for a DAC facility to capture 200,000 tons of CO2 per annum.
The captured CO2 will thereafter be permanently sequestered in geological form by project partner Frontier Carbon Solutions or will be used as feedstock in the production of SAF by Twelve. Other partners supporting the DAC project include the University of Wyoming, Fluor, Carbon Direct, INTERA, EPRI, Carbon-Based Consulting, Icarus, and Novus Energy Advisors.
