NIO launches world’s first V2G photovoltaic self-consumption system

Product updates

  • NIO, an NYSE-listed Chinese EV manufacturer, reported that it had completed the assembly of the world's first photovoltaic self-consumption system with a V2G (vehicle-to-grid) charger in Qilian Mountain National Park. This is the first time NIO has applied its V2G energy replenishment technology.

  • This was carried out as part of the company’s partnership with the World Wildlife Fund’s “Clean Parks” program, Astronergy, and One Earth Nature Foundation.

  • The system consists of photovoltaic power stations, bi-directional V2G charging piles, and EVs. This will support ecological patrols and clean, low-carbon energy utilization within the park. Furthermore, the reverse discharge function of bidirectional piles enables surplus energy stored in EVs to be redirected back to the grid for nighttime or emergency use within the park.
