8 Rivers, a carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology developer, was awarded DAC hub grant funding from the US Department of Energy (DoE) for the deployment of the Southeast DAC (SEDAC) hub in Mobile County, Alabama.
The project funding included USD 20.5 million and was led by the Southern States Energy Board, capturing 50,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
The project team is spearheaded by 8 Rivers; other partners include AirCapture, Crescent Resource Innovation, ENTECH Strategies, Georgia Tech, Mitternight, RTI International, the University of Alabama, and the University of South Alabama. The SEDAC hub optimizes 8 Rivers’ proprietary Calcite technology and AirCapture’s DAC technology by employing a polymeric amine sorbent.
