Adsorbi, a Swedish startup developing bio-based materials for air pollutant and odor removal, has raised EUR 360,000 (~USD 389,584) in seed funding from Metsä Spring, Chalmers Ventures, and Jovitech Invest.
The company intends to use the funds to research product applications, focus on product development and field testing with air filtration companies, and expand sales efforts in the odor control and art preservation markets.
Founded in 2022, Adsorbi is a spinout from Chalmers University of Technology based in Gothenburg. It uses wood-based cellulose harvested from Nordic forests to create an air purification material suitable for use in air filters, odor removal products, and the preservation of artwork in museums. The company claims that its material doesn’t release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) back into the air, making it a more sustainable solution for air purification.
