SentinelOne posted higher than expected quarterly results for Q2 FY2023 amid rumors of a sale and reported expression of interest from cloud security startup Wiz, a comparatively smaller, venture-backed firm. The company added that it plans to remain independent and that recent acquisition rumors were unfounded.
After announcing a unilateral termination of a sales and collaboration agreement with Wiz in late August, SentinelOne added that its broader partnership with the startup is still ongoing and that it had terminated only a specific reseller agreement.
SentinelOne reported adjusted EPS of USD -0.08, beating the Zacks Consensus estimate of USD -0.15 and the USD -0.20 figure from Q2 FY2022; revenues grew 46% YoY to USD 149.4 million in the quarter, versus analyst predictions of USD 141 million.
Analyst QuickTake: In August, SentinelOne was rumored to be seeking investment bank assistance to explore a sale amid profitability issues, layoffs, and an impending investor class action. Soon after, Wiz was reported to have expressed interest in acquiring the NYSE-listed cybersecurity firm. Later that month, SentinelOne unilaterally terminated a previously signed reseller agreement a year early, citing a lack of execution.
