German bioengineering company The Cultivated B (TCB) has partnered with biotech and biomaterials firm denovoMATRIX to explore large-scale meat cultivation for commercial purposes.
The collaboration aims to conduct a feasibility study using microcarriers to improve cell growth in TCB's bioreactors and overcome the limitations of suspended cells. This partnership will leverage denovoMATRIX's biomaterials and cell biology expertise to enhance TCB's cell manufacturing process.
If successful, TCB plans to integrate denovoMATRIX’s technology with its cultivated meat process and make the findings accessible to academic institutions studying cultivated meat.
The Cultivated B, founded in 2009, is a part of InFamily Foods and uses cellular agriculture, precision fermentation, and bioreactor technology to develop cell-cultured products for the food, pharmaceutical, and personal care sectors. Apart from developing cultivated meats and culture materials, the company also licenses its technology to B2B customers.
