Volocopter, a German aviation company developing passenger and cargo eVTOL aircrafts, has signed a joint development agreement with Bristow Group, a company providing vertical flight solutions.
As such, the two companies intend to explore and develop passenger and cargo services for eVTOL aircrafts in the US and UK. This will include examining commercial, operational, and eVTOL aircraft maintenance services and Bristow adopting VoloIQ, Volocopter’s digital platform. Furthermore, Volocopter and Bristow intend to develop an Urban Air Mobility ecosystem, which will include regulatory discussions, infrastructure exploration, and developing local partnerships.
Additionally, as part of the agreement, Bristow has placed an order for two of Volocopter’s VoloCity eVTOL aircrafts and the option to purchase 78 more.
Analyst QuickTake: Similarly, in June 2023 Volocopter signed a partnership with charitable air rescue company ADAC Luftrettung. Under this, the two companies intended to develop customized eVTOLs for rescue services. ADAC also signed agreements to purchase two VoloCity aircrafts with the possibility of acquiring an additional 150 units in the future.
