Optera, a carbon management software company, has secured USD 12 million in a Series A funding round led by Next Frontier Capital. Other investors in the round included Blackhorn Ventures, Mucker Capital, Overture, Engage, Massive, SaaS Ventures, Valo Ventures, AngelList, and Stout Street Capital. This brings the company's total funding to USD 27.5 million.
The funding would be utilized to drive product innovation and extend sales and marketing teams on a global scale. With the increased capacity, Optera aims to assist companies in meeting new climate disclosure rules set by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the European Union.
Initially founded in 2006 as a sustainability consulting company, Optera rebranded itself as a software-based carbon management company in 2016. Optera now provides an integrated emissions platform to help customers reduce their climate impacts from scope 1, 2, and 3 CO2 emissions. In addition to internal carbon management, the company connects suppliers, portfolio companies, and customers to achieve collaborative carbon accounting across the value chain.
