The Cultivated B (TCB), a German bioengineering company, has entered the pre-submission stage of regulatory approval in Europe to sell hybrid cultivated meats.
This stage marks the first step in gaining regulatory approval and is requested at least six months before the official submission. In collaboration with its sister company, The Family Butchers, TCB will develop hot dogs made from a blend of vegan ingredients and pork cell cultures.
If no other company is submitted for approval between now and the official submission, TCB will become the first biotech company to apply for European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) approval for cell-cultured meat.
Analyst QuickTake : TCB joins Aleph Farms as one of the first few companies to begin the authorization processes for cultivated meat in European nations. Early this year, Aleph Farms applied for regulatory approval in Switzerland to commercialize its Aleph Cuts brand and became the first company to have submitted for pre-market authorization with the FSA (EFSA equivalent in the UK).
