BeZero Carbon, a British company providing organizations with carbon data, analytics, and project ratings, has launched the industry-first engineered carbon removal credit rating to increase transparency in the voluntary carbon market (VCM).
BeZero Carbon has provided an “A” rating for a biochar project, indicating a high likelihood of the project achieving one metric ton of CO2 emissions avoidance or removal. The rating has been assessed considering risk factors such as additionality, over-crediting, leakage, and non-permeance.
This rating was issued on the heels of the company launching a new methodology for retiring carbon credits in the VCM.
