Varjo partners with BAE Systems for Project OdySSEy

Partnerships

  • Industrial-grade VR/MR solutions provider Varjo has partnered with defense, aerospace, and security solutions provider BAE Systems to develop Project OdySSEy.

  • Project OdySSEy aims to create a single synthetic environment for future military training, allowing air, land, sea, space, and cyber forces to train together in a virtual setting. This environment will enable military forces to gain battlefield experiences in a virtual world, overcoming the limitations of live collective training scenarios.

  • BAE Systems, through Project OdySSEy, is utilizing XR technology to offer immersive training experiences. The company plans to capture data from every interaction during training to analyze and tailor the training syllabus according to learners' needs. Varjo's technology, which includes human-eye resolution and eye-tracking capabilities, will be integrated into this advanced synthetic training environment.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Varjo has been expanding its headsets' use for military purposes, with recent partnerships in August 2023 including the US Army for its RVCT-A Initiative and the US Department of Defense for mixed reality flight training simulations .
