Climeworks and Great Carbon Valley partners for DAC in Kenya

Partnerships
Geographic expansion

  • Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) startup, has partnered with Great Carbon Valley (GCV), a Kenyan green project development venture, to develop multiple large-scale direct air capture and storage (DAC+S) facilities in Kenya. The partners will form a joint venture to deploy the project.

  • Initially, Climeworks and GCV will explore viable locations for the DAC+S facilities, low-carbon energy sources, and locations for CO2 sequestration.

  • The partnership aims to remove and permanently sequester one million metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere from the commercialized facilities in 2028.
