Manna Drone Delivery applies for drone-based delivery services license in UK

Regulation/policy

  • Manna Drone Delivery (Manna), an Irish drone-based delivery services provider, has applied for a license to operate drone-based delivery services in the UK, aiming to start services in the summer of 2024 (June-August) upon approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

  • Manna, which already has EU permission, needs separate UK permission due to Brexit, but the UK's legislation alignment with the EU should simplify the approval process.

  • Manna has already conducted more than 100,000 drone deliveries in trials in Ireland and plans to expand services to 25 locations in 2024, of which 15 would be in Ireland, serving up to 1.5 million people locally.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Today’s news furthers Manna’s goals of expanding its reach in Europe this year—which the company first announced in August 2022.
