Trace Carbon Solutions, a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) development platform, has signed an agreement with Molpus Woodlands Group, a forestry management company, to develop a CO2 sequestration hub in Louisiana. The Evergreen Sequestration Hub would be a combination of underground carbon storage with an above-ground ecosystem.
In the partnership, Trace expects to store and manage the carbon sequestration process, while Molpus will manage the forest that spans 20,000 acres.
The hub is estimated to have a capacity of storing ~250 million metric tons of CO2. It is also located near several high-emitters in the region, reducing the CO2 transportation costs.
