Kodiak Robotics, an autonomous trucks developer, has partnered with logistics giant A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) to launch a commercial autonomous trucking lane between Houston and Oklahoma City. This marks an expansion of the partnership between the two companies, which began in November 2022 with autonomous freight deliveries.
The two companies plan to complete four round trips per week between Houston and Oklahoma City, aiming to address the shortage of truck drivers and improve safety in the trucking industry.
Each truck is reportedly equipped with 18 sensors for a 360-degree view and evaluates safety processes every tenth of a second.
