Supercritical, a British carbon offset marketplace, has partnered with MASH Makes, a Denmark-based carbon removal company, to pre-purchase 10,000 tons of biochar-based carbon removal from MASH Makes. Supercritical expects to receive the carbon credits from 2024 onward.
The partnership enables MASH Makes to accelerate two biochar-based carbon removal projects in India. MASH Makes uses its pyrolysis technology to remove 70,000 tons of CO2 through five Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) by 2024.
In May 2023 , Supercritical entered a similar pre-purchase agreement with Carbo Culture for 7,500 tons of CO2 removal.
