Quantron partners with IKEA Austria on hydrogen fuel-cell trucks

Partnerships

  • Quantron, a German developer of electric and hydrogen commercial vehicles, has partnered with IKEA Austria to provide its QUANTRON QLI FCEV trucks at the first IKEA market worldwide. The vehicles will be fueled with green hydrogen from Wien Energie.

  • The two companies have collaborated since August 2021, and thus far, IKEA Austria has 45 QLI BEV trucks in use in the greater Vienna area and 11 more in other Austrian cities. IKEA Austria intends to make all of its last-mile deliveries emission-free by 2025 and plans to expand its fleet of H2 trucks to 40 units.

  • The company’s QLI FCEV trucks were developed in collaboration with Ballard Power Systems and have a range of up to 400 km.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Similarly, in August 2023 , Quantron partnered with Mob’Hy, a French producer and distributor of green hydrogen, to supply 253 Quantron fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEV) between 2024–2027. The company is focusing on expanding its global presence. In May 2023 , the company acquired the subsidiary EYES Group from FRIEM and established Quantron Italy to expand its geographical footprint in Southern Europe.
