The Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries of Denmark has released what it claims to be the world's first national action plan on transitioning toward a more plant-based food system.
This plan is a part of the political agricultural agreement from 2021 and outlines the Danish government’s vision and initiatives to aid the transition, including chef training, promoting plant-based diets in schools, increasing exports, and investing in research and development.
In October 2021 , The Danish government announced its investment of DKK 1 billion (~USD 177 million) to advance plant-based foods as part of its climate agreement for food and agriculture.
Analyst QuickTake: While this might be the first national plant to transition into a more plant-based food system, several governments have taken steps to democratize and advance the plant-based food industry. A few examples include President Biden’s proposal, which pledged to increase the availability of plant-based and vegetarian options at federal facilities, and the French government’s AlinOVeg project , aimed at providing plant-based products and solutions.
