iFarm, a Finnish company that develops software and hardware for vertical farming and hydroponics, has announced the opening of Green Farm, Dubai's first vertical farm using iFarm's technologies.
With a total growing area of 712 sq m, the farm will operate under the “Mama Natura Greens” brand and produce leafy greens, microgreens, edible flowers, and more using iFarm Multigreens’ technology.
The farm aims to grow over three tons of produce per month, supplying greens and herbs to restaurants, hotels and resorts in Dubai, as well as retail chains such as Spinneys, Geant, Grandiose, and Carrefour.
Analyst QuickTake: iFarm began construction of the Green Farm in Dubai last year in partnership with SpaceFarm, the general contractor for the project. Notably, the company also moved its global headquarters from the EU to the UAE nearly a year ago, following its expansion into the Middle East AgriTech market. In addition to expanding into Europe and the Middle East, the company also partnered with Opus 2G Group (April 2023) to build an automated vertical farm in Mexico using iFarm's StackGrow technology and a hydroponic vertical farming system. As of date, over 19 facilities with iFarm technology are either in operation or under construction worldwide, with a significant presence in Europe and the Middle East.
