Xampla partners with Elemis to develop bio-based sachets for skin care samples

Partnerships

  • Xampla, a British sustainable plastic materials company, has partnered with skin care brand Elemis to develop biodegradable sampling sachets using bio-film made from plant waste.

  • The collaboration aims to replace traditional plastic sachets with plastic-free alternatives by converting plant waste into heat-sealable films. The project is supported by a grant from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and Innovate UK.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This partnership follows Xampla’s launch of its consumer brand, Morro , last month. At the time, the company noted that its Morro material would replace traditional plastic packaging; it has various applications and is also edible and soluble, making it also suitable for use in food packaging.
