ChargePoint produces Tesla-compatible NACS EV chargers

Funding

  • ChargePoint, an NYSE-listed EV charging solutions provider, is preparing to provide North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector support for its AC and DC charging solutions in the form of cable conversion kits for its customers.

  • The kits are to be delivered to customers in November, enabling Tesla owners to use a public fast-charging alternative for the first time.

  • Analyst QuickTake: ChargePoint’s decision to provide adaptors comes following a slew of EV manufacturers announcing plans of adopting the NACs charging standard earlier this year. Following Tesla opening up access to the NACs plug type in November 2022 , EV brands such as Ford, Fisker, General Motors, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Rivian, Polestar, Volvo, Honda, and, most recently, BMW and Toyota have stated that the charging connector will be incorporated into their upcoming EV models.
