Materion Corporation, a global manufacturer of advanced materials, has been granted a contract valued at USD 5 million by the US Air Force Research Laboratory (US-AFRL). The contract is for the development of beryllium and aluminum-beryllium alloys for additive manufacturing.
The two-year contract from US-AFRL is aimed at providing the necessary support for the creation of processes for several deposition technologies in a safe and scalable environment. This includes support technologies for pre- and post-processing of powder and material inputs and structures and components.
Materion offers advanced material solutions for sectors including aerospace and defense, automotive, semiconductor, industrial, and energy. Its expertise covers a range of areas such as specialty engineered alloy systems, inorganic chemicals and powders, precious and non-precious metals, beryllium and beryllium composites, and precision filters and optical coatings.
