Heirloom, a direct air capture (DAC) startup, has signed an agreement with CarbonCure Technologies, a Canadian green concrete producer using CO2, to capture atmospheric CO2 using Heirloom's DAC technology and permanently store it in concrete with CarbonCure’s carbon mineralization technologies.
The partnership aims to support Heirloom when the company launches its first commercial facility in 2025 with a scalable concrete storage solution. CarbonCure expects to store CO2 captured by Heirloom’s DAC facilities in concrete plants.
Additionally, Heirloom and CarbonCure have partnered to develop a DAC Hub in Illinois, US.
This agreement was preceded by a collaboration between Heirloom, CarbonCure, and Central Concrete in February 2023 to demonstrate CO2 storage in concrete for the first time.
