Steakholder Foods (formerly MeaTech), an Israeli cell-cultured meat company, has achieved over 75% cost reduction of its growth media for animal cell cultivation compared to rates two years ago.
The company’s growth media provides a medium for cultivating bovine cells in suspension and claims to deliver a high yield and consistent quality without compromising the individual characteristics of cells.
Analyst QuickTake: This breakthrough aligns with the company’s target of providing cultivated meat at USD 6 per kg by 2030. The industry has come a long way since the first cultivated burger, priced at USD 330,000 to ~USD 10 per burger. Innovations like this will further aid cultivated meat companies to overcome cost hurdles and challenge animal meats.
