Katmai launches version 1.0 of its Virtual Office for remote workers

Product updates

  • Work metaverse platform Katmai launched version 1.0 of Virtual Office, a 3D virtual office platform, available after a 30-day free trial for USD 15 per month per user. The platform is designed to facilitate remote work by combining 3D virtual spaces with video cameras and avatars for a more immersive online workplace experience.

  • Key features include private and co-working spaces, spatial audio, spontaneous interactions, and personalized environments that can be customized to represent a brand.

  • Additionally, the company claims that businesses are able to launch their own virtual office space in less than 24 hours through their desktop or mobile web browser without the need for a long onboarding process through a sales team.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In April 2023 , Katmai raised USD 22 million in Series A funding and emerged from stealth. The company’s monthly pricing per user, however, is higher compared to one of its more prominent competitors, Gather (USD 15 vs. USD 7), likely given its focus on authentic user avatars as opposed to cartoonish ones.
