Scania and Sennder form JV to offer electric truck solutions across Europe

Partnerships

  • Scania, a Sweden-based subsidiary of Traton and manufacturer of commercial vehicles, and Sennder, a Germany-based freight matching platform, have formed JUNA, a joint venture (JV) to offer electric truck solutions across Europe.

  • JUNA is based in Berlin and offers a pay-per-use model for electric trucks. It offers a range of services, including electric vehicles, repair, maintenance, insurance, and digital and analytics services. The company utilizes Scania’s electric trucks and support services and enables load matching via Sennder’s digital platform.

  • JUNA has piloted one electric truck in partnership with an FMCG shipper in the region of Stuttgart, with plans to expand the pilot to operate on long-distance routes during 2024. The truck currently relies on public charging infrastructure and has per-mile costs comparable to current diesel charges.
