QuEra and Quantum Machines secure BIRD contract to develop PCU

Partnerships

  • N eutral-atom quantum computing company QuEra and quantum hardware and software company Quantum Machines have been awarded a Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation grant to jointly develop an improved Photonic Control Unit (PCU).

  • The project will increase quantum computers' computational power by integrating QuEra’s photonic microchips with Quantum Machines’ fast analog controllers. The PCU is expected to further enhance the efficiency of quantum processes by expanding its capabilities to address ions, optically addressable spin qubits, and nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers, thereby making it potentially useful in scaling up optically driven systems.
