Steel producer ArcelorMittal announced its entry into the additive manufacturing market, launching a business unit called ArcelorMittal Powders and placing into operation a large-scale atomizer in Aviles, Spain.
The atomizer will produce steel powders for multiple additive manufacturing technologies. Key features include large batch-size production from 200 kg to 3 tonnes and an annual capacity of 1,000 tonnes. The powders are produced from recycled steel using renewable resources and will be housed in recyclable packages.
This new product is aligned with the company's commitment to producing innovative and sustainable steel materials for future manufacturing needs.
