Eion, a carbon removal company using enhanced rock weathering (ERW), has partially completed a CO2 removal purchase delivery to Stripe, an API-based payment infrastructure and card-issuing as well as fraud prevention platform.
Eion has been implementing its ERW technology on farms in Mississippi and Illinois for the past eight months. The company claimed that it has eliminated ~50 tons of CO2 during this time, which contributes to the 500 tons purchased by Stripe Climate.
Stripe Climate provided an additional USD 1 million for another carbon removal re-purchase from Eion. The company aims to remove 10 million tons of CO2 per annum by 2030.
Founded in 2021, Eion uses Olivine (an abundant silicate rock) to perform enhanced rock weathering on farm soil. The company captures and stores CO2 to decarbonize the agricultural industry.
