Frontier, an advanced market commitment (AMC) for carbon removal technologies, has sourced carbon offset purchase deals with the CarbonCapture, a direct air capture (DAC) firm, and Heirloom, a DAC startup. The total purchase consideration amounts to USD 46.6 million for a total of 72,400 tons of CO2 removal.
CarbonCapture agreed to supply 45,500 tons of CO2 removal by 2028 for USD 20 million. The partnership expects to develop CarbonCapture's technology from the laboratory phase to a commercial facility.
In addition, Heirloom received USD 26.6 million for the removal of 26,900 tons of CO2 by 2030 from its next commercial facility.
Frontier undertook these CO2 removal purchases on behalf of multiple buyers, including Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, JPMorgan Chase, McKinsey Sustainability, Autodesk, H&M Group, and Workday.
