Deep Sky raises CAD 57.5 million to commercialize technology

Funding

  • Deep Sky, a Canadian carbon removal project developer, secured CAD 57.5 million (~USD 41.9 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Brightspark Ventures and Whitecap Venture Partners. Investors such as Investissement Québec, OMERS Ventures, and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) took part in this round.

  • The company also converted a CAD 17.7 million (~USD 12.9 million) seed note as part of this round, thereby bringing its total funding to CAD 75 million.

  • The company expects to utilize the funding for its first commercial facility and team expansion. Additionally, Deep Sky plans to develop software to sell carbon credits and scale its Alpha research facility for CO2 removal research.
