Neat Burger, a UK-based vegan restaurant chain, will shut down four London locations (Liverpool Street, Canary Wharf, Oxford Street, and Westfield Stratford) before Christmas.
This decision stems from a significant reduction in foot traffic due to remote and hybrid work patterns and increased food, utility, and property costs. Moving forward, the company has ceased plans to open new sites and will focus on smaller, high-traffic areas. Further, it aims to expand its delivery radius in partnership with Deliveroo.
Analyst QuickTake: This news comes just weeks after Neat Burger opened its first Italian location in Milan. However, a recently passed bill against plant-based meat labeling might threaten its operations. On the other hand, Neat Burger’s NYC location is thriving and has fostered several foodservice partnerships ( TiNDLE Foods , Chunk Foods , OmniFoods ).
