French quantum hardware startup Pasqal has entered a five-year USD 90 million initiative with Investissement Québec to focus on neutral-atom quantum computer technology within Québec's quantum innovations zone, DistriQ. The project emphasizes the manufacturing and commercialization of quantum computers and related R&D activities.
The government of Québec will grant a USD 15 million loan for the project which aims to create 53 permanent jobs within five years and open a new facility for manufacturing neutral atom quantum computers by 2024.
The initiative aims to make Sherbrooke, Québec, an international quantum computing hub. PASQAL will spearhead multiple facets of the project, including the development of quantum tech laboratories and new ventures in the field. The project will also involve a collaborative space for quantum innovation and talent training initiatives, further advancing the quantum computing landscape in North America.
