ZeroAvia partners with Ecojet to provide up to 70 hydrogen-electric engines

Partnerships

  • ZeroAvia, a hydrogen-based aviation solutions developer, has signed an agreement with Ecojet, a British airline launching in 2024. The partnership aims to convert Ecojet's planes to hydrogen-electric power with ZeroAvia's technologies.

  • As such, Ecojet will use ZeroAvia's ZA600 engines, once certified, to convert their fleet to electric power, making it the first electric airline. They have additionally ordered the more powerful ZA2000 engine, suitable for larger aircraft.

  • ZeroAvia is targeting certification and service in 2025 and 2027, respectively, and will work with airports and other partners to introduce hydrogen-electric operations in commercial flights.

  • Analyst QuickTake: During the same month , ZeroAvia also partnered with Japan Airlines and JAL Engineering to explore the development of hydrogen-electric engines for flight operations on regional routes in Japan.
