City of Arlington to test autonomous food deliveries using drones and robots

Partnerships

  • The City of Arlington, Tarrant Area Food Bank, the University of Texas at Arlington, drone company Aerialoop, and tech firm Clevon have partnered to test autonomous food delivery in a two-year multimodal delivery project in Arlington, Texas.

  • Funded by a USD 780,182 grant from the US Department of Energy, the partners aim to roll out unmanned drones and autonomous robots for food delivery, reducing greenhouse gas emissions typically associated with standard delivery methods. The pilot project anticipates delivering around 300 food boxes in East Arlington.

  • The viability and environmental impact of this approach will be evaluated throughout the project's implementation.
