Geotab receives executive order from CARB for aftermarket solutions

Product updates

  • Geotab, a company specializing in connected transportation solutions, has gained exemption for its aftermarket solutions from the emissions anti-tampering regulations laid out by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Its product, the Go Telematics Kit, is now the only CARB-compliant, continuously connected fleet management solution in the market.

  • Within California’s regulatory framework, CARB prohibits the marketing, installation, or sale of any component that alters the original design or performance of emissions control systems. This includes the on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems utilized by telematics companies' devices to gather vehicle data. Non-compliance with this regulation could result in potential fines of up to USD 42,000 per vehicle.
