California-based full-stack quantum computing company Rigetti Computing has launched the company's first Quantum Processing Unit (QPU), Novera, which is based on its fourth-generation Ankaa-class architecture. The price of the QPU starts from USD 900,000 onwards.
The Novera QPU includes a nine-qubit chip, a five-qubit chip, a specially designed puck containing both chips that route signals to connectors, and a tower that works as a coolant. In addition, it is equipped with shields for protection from radiation and magnetic disturbances and a signal chain with signal conditioning devices.
Rigetti claims that the Novera QPU will provide researchers with the opportunity to gain access to the company’s quantum technology by enabling advanced research, such as qubit operations, gate design, error mitigation, and quantum algorithm development.
