LanzaTech, a Nasdaq-listed next-generation carbon transformation company, has partnered with Tadweer, an Abu Dhabi-based waste management entity, to launch a feasibility study for converting municipal and commercial solid waste into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The partners expect to convert 350,000 tons of waste into 200,000 tonnes of ethanol. Then, LanzaJet, a spun-out company of LanzaTech, will use the feedstock to produce 120,000 tonnes of SAF per year.
Tadweer aims to minimize greenhouse emissions in aviation fuel production and contribute to the UAE's National SAF Road Map.
