Germany-based Carbonfuture, a carbon removal marketplace, signed an off-take agreement with Microsoft for biochar carbon removal (BCR) credits. The credits would be obtained by the Exomad Green project in Bolivia, a forest waste conversion project that provides carbon offsetting.
The company expects to obtain 32,000 tons of CO2 by June 2024, from Exomad Green's site to support Microsoft’s emission goals.
Carbonfuture will also provide its digital MRV+ process to track biochar removal from the facility to increase the transparency of the CO2 Removal Certificate delivery to Microsoft. The Exomad project is compliant with the Puro Standard, a science-based certification for CO2 removal methods.
